Hi, my name is Alicia Tubb. This will be my first year participating in the Walk n' Wheel to End ALS. I am participating in Walking to Defeat ALS as a community service project through my high school soccer team, the La Cueva Bears. We walk in memory of Pat Grange. He was an incredibly talented New Mexico soccer standout who was diagnosed with ALS 2 weeks after his 28th birthday. He lost his fight less than 2 years after, but during that time he developed a passion for generating ALS awareness and research, which we are continuing to do through our efforts. Thank you to all of you who have contributed to this wonderful cause over the last few years and thank you to everyone who will help me reach my Walk to Defeat ALS® fundraising goal this year! This is our opportunity to work together to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. There are so many individuals and their families affected by ALS and I want to do my part to help find a cure for this horrible disease. There have been incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families. WE CAN'T STOP NOW! Please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease. Why We Need Your Help Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages two to five years from the time of diagnosis. Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries. ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the meantime it costs an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to bring help and hope today!
You're a champion for ALS! Thanks to your amazing support, we reached our Walk United fundraising goal! Together, we're making a real difference in the fight against this devastating disease.
Walk n` Wheel to End ALS raises crucial local funds to support those living with ALS, their families, and critical research efforts. ALS may steal movement and speech, but with your help, we're giving a voice to this fight.
Here's why your contribution matters:
- This progressive neurodegenerative disease weakens muscles, affecting walking, talking, swallowing, and breathing. ALS is relentless:
- It doesn't discriminate: Anyone can be struck by ALS, regardless of age.
- There's no cure yet: Though there's no known cure, research is making strides, and your support fuels that progress.
Because of you, hope walks on! Your donation directly impacts research, care, and advocacy for those living with ALS.
Thank you for being a part of the solution!
